So I've been working on packing my stuff to move out of the dorm this week, and ran across my highschool assignment notebooks (and college ones too!) that I apparently brought with me to school. Instead of continuing the oh-so-boring task of packing I instead delved deep into my scribblings, past the Grendel assignments and MATH HW DUE TOMORROW! until I reached the weirdness that happened when the teacher was talking and I was paying more attention to the board then to whatever my hand was writing. Why in the world did any of you hang out with a nutter like me?

1. Write a song for a video game.
2. Let video game and song become insanely popular.
3. Let yet another video game get released in the interim, and get just as popular.
4. Shake well and enjoy.

Finals shouldn't be allowed to happen all in the same week. It only leads to stress and ulcers and hair-pulling and hyperventilating.

The big project in my Comparative Neurobiology class is to create an organism and figure out the hardwire (nervous system) involved to make it do stuff (feed, mate, flee, and ambulate). Now since I've just begun the class I'm not close to even thinking about the various brain bits necessary for this to occur, but I can figure out what my beast will look like. Only... I suck at things like that. So, oh reader(s) of my livejournal, make me a creature and I shall give it (hypothetical) life.
In short, anyone have an idea for a made-up beast floating around their head that I can steal use?

New school year, new roommate, new classes, new books, and the same dorm room (gotta keep some constants in my life). Classes begin tomorrow, and I am both excited and afeared. I have Mr. I Build Robotic Lobsters for DARPA again, this time for Comparative Neurobiology, along with an Evolution, Seminar in Ethics in Psychology, and Regulatory Cell Biology class. Throw in a coupl'a labs and you have my schedule for the semester. Though the titles for these classes aren't nearly as frightening as Psychopharmacology or *shudder* Organic Chemistry, I'm still a tinge nervous.
Monday the 10th is College night at the MoS. I have class 'till 6:30 that night, but I'm totally down to go post-schooly things. Who's a'comin?

I fail. It is actually known as the Nodes of Ranvier and not Ranador, the latter being nothing more than some 23 yr olds' username of choice (if google is to be believed). Still cool sounding, but not as cool sounding as it could be.
And yes, it is already been used as a band name.

Things I Did: -Schooly things 'till the end of June. Learned about Boston's sewer system and how to recognize a fugue and whose shoe is bronzed in Faneuil Hall. -Job! Which is awesome in its laid-back-ness but terrible in its pay and residents. But I got to sit and read all summer, which was a-okay with me. -Fiesta! Drinks with Amanda and Josh, wandering around 'till all hours of the night, bumping into relatives in similar states of inebriation, getting kicked off the beach, spending too much time at the stoop, driving to the other beach, convincing SOMEONE to go on the skymaster with me, ma chi siamo tutti mutti-ed which were subsequently viva san pietro-ed. -Saw movies, read books, saw movies about books, almost made it to a museum, darkened the bookstore doors more times than I can remember, set foot in the Gloucester theatre for the first time in year(s), saw Marcie's dad play music twice, went to a few Boston-y concerts, got to go backstage at the Paradise, Lounged at the Lounge, found Harper's Ferry all by myself(!!). -Had sushi and hotpot both for the 3rd time. Displayed my chopstick prowess (ha!) to a few new people, and have a few more stains on my clothes to prove it. -Saw yet another pizza place locate itself in Gloucester. Feared for the inevitable sinking into the sea due to pizzeria-overload and contemplated the use of a calzone as a floating device. -Had Christmas in August, which happened to work out in my favor. -The Cookening went swimmingly, and I still have far too many meat-products in my freezer.
I'd say that was a successful summer all around. How was yours?
